Zanahorias !!!

¡¡¡¡¡El buen tiempo ya esta aquí¡¡¡¡ y en Happy Sport nos  metemos de lleno en el fomento de hábitos saludables a través de una alimentación equilibrada y saludable en grandes y pequeños. 

Por lo que os proponemos comenzar con algo muy sencillo pero delicioso y fácil de hacer. Consiste en  lo siguiente: A la rica zanahoria¡¡¡¡¡ cogemos las zanahorias, las lavamos, pelamos y cortamos a tiras con unas gotitas de limón y tenemos listo un almuerzo, aperitivo o merienda estupenda.

Las zanahorias son ricas en betacarotenos y vitamina A. Que nos ayudan entre otras cosas, por sus propiedades antioxidantes a cuidar nuestra piel, a la vista y ayuda a la regeneración de tejidos, entre muchas otras.

PRENDAS… FORFEITS in English!

¿Has jugado alguna vez al juego de las prendas? Seguro que sí. ¿Y en inglés?

Hoy os dejamos esta imagen resumen para utilizarla en vuestras clases de inglés. Se puede adaptar a cualquier nivel, pues según éste, practicaréis más o menos vocabulario relacionado con la ropa y los complementos. Prestad atención a las instrucciones y a los stunts o pruebas que os sugerimos.

Forfeits

Players: 5-25 / No equipment / No Preparation

Forfeits is an old, old game. It has been popular for centuries because it's such fun. 

Each player puts a piece of clothing, jewelry or some personal belonging into a pile on the floor. These are the "forfeits." One person is chosen to be the judge, and another holds up the forfeits over the judge's head. The judge sits in front of the pile and cannot see what is being held overhead. As the sock or necklace or belt is held over the judge's head, the other player says: 

"Heavy, heavy hangs over the head. What shall the owner do to redeem the forfeit?" 

Then the judge (without looking up) commands the owner to do some act or stunt in order to get back the property.

Some ideas for stunts? 

1. Try to stand on your head.
2. Answer yes to every question asked by every player in the group.
3. Sing a song.
4. Tell a ghost story.
5. Make at least 3 people laugh.
6. Dance a jig.
7. Walk across the room on your knees.
8. Tell a joke no one in the room has heard.
9. Give a 1-minute talk about elephants.
10. Say five times rapidly: "Three big blobs of a black bug's blood."
11. Say five times rapidly: "Truly rural."
12. Yawn until you make someone else yawn.
13. Holding one foot with your hand, hop around the room.
14. Crawl under the table on all fours and bark like a dog.
15. Tell how to make a pie without talking.
16. Kiss the wall backwards: standing about 50 cm. from the wall, lean backwards until your lips touch the wall. Then straighten up without losing your balance. (Take off lipstick first.)
17. Place a basketball in the middle of the floor. Try to sit on it, while writing your name legibly on a card with a pencil.
18. Place 3 strong straight backed chairs side by side. Lie with your head on the first chair and your feet on the third, with folded arms and stiff body. Have someone remove the middle chair. Hold your position for 10 seconds.
19. For 2 players at a time: Both are blindfolded and seated on the floor with a large towel or napkin pinned around the neck like a bib. Each is then given a bowl of popcorn and a spoon and told the feed the other player the entire contents of the bowl. For a messier (and funnier) game, use wheat germ or bran.
20. Same setup, but feed each other bananas.

Of course, the judge and the person who is holding up the forfeit also have articles in the pile, and they must act out a command in order to get them back, too!

El Juego del Pañuelo, ¡en inglés!

Hoy, para los English Teachers, os describimos cómo se llama y cómo se juega al “Juego del Pañuelo”, en inglés. Aprovechadlo durante vuestras sesiones y practicadlo in english; también para los monitores de campamentos de verano.

En el Reino Unido, este juego se llama "Steal the Flingsock" y se juega:

1. Pick a referee and then divide into two teams. Line up about 20 feet across from each other and spread out about three to four feet apart. The FlingSock is placed in the center of the play area. Have each team count off so that each player has a number - one, two, three and so on. You can even pick topics like wolves, foxes, bears, etc.
2. The referee will start the game by calling out one set like number one. From both teams a player will come out and try to steal the FlingSock without being tagged. The first one to grab the FlingSock and get back across his/her line without being tagged by the other player earns a point. If you are tagged while stealing the other team receives the point. Play up to 20 - 25 points.

Otra variante de éste lo llaman "Steal the bacon", que sigue más o menos las mismas reglas:

1. Divide the players into two equal teams and line them up facing one another, about 15 feet apart (players in line should be about 5 feet apart). Starting at the right end of each line, have the players count off down their line, so those with the same numbers are diagonally across from each other.
2. Place the bacon (the stick, ball, or bandanna) in the center of the space between the two lines; this is the bacon.
3. To start the game, call out a number or the name of an animal. The players who share that number must race to grab the stick and get back to their places without being tagged by the opposing player. The player receives a point each time he makes it home safe; if they don't, the stick is returned to the center. The game continues in this fashion until the first team reaches the predetermined number of points.

Por otra parte, en los Estados Unidos, hay un juego que se llama "Drop the Handerkerchief”, aunque algo diferente, que se juega:

1. Players are in a circle and the person who is "it" walks around behind the other players with a handkerchief and selects any player he wishes and drops the handerchief behind that person. The person who is it attempts to circle the group and reach the spot vacated by the person behind whom he dropped the handerkerchief before that person who must pick up the handkerchief and chase him catches and touches him.

      Además, hay otro juego muy similar que se llama "Blackman" y que también lo podéis utilizar:

1. Two equal groups lined up in two lines about 25 yards from each other and a person who is in the middle. The two groups of people run from one line to the other at will. The person in the middle attempts to touch them after which they stay in the middle. This continues until all are caught and everybody is caught.

Healthy and Easy meal for parents and kids.

Hablando una noche con mi buena amiga Ana Maruenda le pregunte que hacía, eran las 8 de la tarde así que la respuesta fue obvia;  la cena. “y ¿qué estás haciendo? “ “Crema de puerros”. Me pareció sencillísima y muy apetecible. Por lo que queremos compartirla con vosotr@s

Rehogar los puerros en el cazo, durante unos minutos. Después añadir dos patatas peladas,  junto con agua y leche (mitad/ mitad), sal al gusto. Dejar hervir durante 20  minutos y tachaaannn, lista¡¡¡¡¡. Por último la batimos y servimos. De rechupete y para toda la familia.

El resultado el que veis, variantes? Dependerán de nuestros peques, algunos prefieren sin nada, otros con jamoncito de la tierra, queso rallado, crustons de pan, etc.

ALFIE GIVES A HAND: Happy Sport y nuestra lectura recomendada!

HAPPY SPORT os recomienda esta lectura y os guía para que os sentéis con vuestros hijos/as a leer en inglés y a hacer los ejercicios juntos, aprender y divertirse.

Este mes seguimos con los libros de Alfie, en concreto, hoy os vamos a desgranar un poquito el libro para que, vosotros papis, cuando leais el libro con vuestros hijos tengáis recursos didácticos y practiqueis juntos inglés. Es muy importante que los niños vean que vosotros también “habláis inglés” pues así lo identificarán como algo propio y nada raro. La naturalidad de las acciones con nuestros hijos junto a la rutina nos llevarán al éxito. Ya nos lo iréis contando, porque nos gustaría que participárais con nosotros y nos contarais vuestras experiencias HAPPY SPORT.

ALFIE GIVES A HAND, by Shirley Hughes. 
En este libro, el amigo de Alfie, Bernard organiza una fiesta. Desde el punto de vista pedagógico, aprovechamos la historia para hablar de los estados de humor y los comportamientos de cada uno de los asistentes a la fiesta: happy, enthusiastic, shy, silly, naughty, excited, sad, bad-tempered...

Además, en los preparativos de ir a su primera fiesta hablamos de qué es lo que hace uno para prepararse antes de acudir a una fiesta como por ejemplo:

• Washing your face
• Brushing your teeth
• Brushing your hair
• Putting on nice clothes and shoes

Y, por supuesto, el REGALO, como cuando vamos a un cumple: Wrapping the present. Aprovechamos también y cantamos varias canciones: Happy Birthday, Ring around the Rosies, y muchos más juegos con canciones que os vamos a ir subiendo a nuestro Facebook de Happy Sport.

AL CORRO DE LA PATATA, connections to the Bubonic Plague (or Black Death)?

The words to the Ring Around the Rosy children's ring game have their origin in English history. The historical period dates back to the Great Plague of London in 1665 (bubonic plague) or even before when the first outbreak of the Plague hit England in the 1300's. The symptoms of the plague included a rosy red rash in the shape of a ring on the skin (Ring around the rosy). Pockets and pouches were filled with sweet smelling herbs (or posies) which were carried due to the belief that the disease was transmitted by bad smells. The term "Ashes Ashes" refers to the cremation of the dead bodies! The death rate was over 60% and the plague was only halted by the Great Fire of London in 1666 which killed the rats which carried the disease which was transmitting via water sources. The English version of "Ring around the rosy" replaces Ashes with (A-tishoo, A-tishoo) as violent sneezing was another symptom of the disease. LIBRO RECOMENDADO DEL MES: "ALFIE" by Shirley Hughes

Cada mes os vamos a recomendar unos libros que consideramos son especiales para que empecéis a leerles ya a vuestros hijos en casa. Como actividad en familia, la lectura, es un encuentro entre padres e hijos que siempre perdurará en el corazón de todos. Se trata de libros ideales para la etapa básica de los primeros años, es decir, niños de 3 a 6 años.

Empezamos con la serie muy conocida en el Reino Unido desde hace más de 20 años de la escritora Shirley Hughes titulada ALFIE. Las ilustraciones, que son de la misma autora, os encantarán pero, sobre todo, podréis interactuar con vuestros hijos pues llevan unas guías de uso para que los niños aprendan vocabulario y expresiones lingüísticas, además de numerosos recursos docentes. Se trata de una colección de 10 libros que no podéis perderos.

Lo que más ha gustado de esta colección, generación tras generación, es que todos en nuestras casas nos sentimos muy identificados con los personajes. Con ALFIE podemos ver las diferencias que existen entre unas familias y otras, abriendo las mentes de los niños a otros posibles escenarios.

Hoy os presentaremos a los personajes:
- Main character ALFIE – El “prota”.
- ANNIE ROSE –– The sister
- Bad Boy BERNARD y muchos otros amigos como la tímida Minn y Daniel, Kate, Sara, Karim, Freddie.
- Y una mascota, la gatita Chessie.

Aprenderemos mucho de la convivencia entre hermanos y hermanos, padres y abuelos, tíos y sobrinos, vecinos y amigos, etc. Lo que más os gustará es que nos “enganchará” a todos, adultos y niños y éstos os pedirán que no dejéis de leer, querrán más y más.

Vamos a abrir boca un poco con el libro titulado: ALFIE’S FEET – Un libro que nos cuenta cómo Alfie se ve involucrado en la tarea de tener que comprarse unas botas nuevas, pues las que llevaba se les han mojado de tanto saltar entre los charcos. En este libro aprenderemos vocabulario relacionado con todo tipo de calzado y demás ropa para cubrir los mismos, además de colores y tamaños; derecha e izquierda; partes del pie; distintos modos de mover los pies: correr, saltar, bailar, etc.

No se nos puede olvidar, además, daros unas pequeñas pautas pedagógicas que, a nuestro entender, os llevarán al éxito de su lectura en todos sus sentido, tanto de este libro como de todos los demás.

1.- Leer el libro con vuestros hijos sin hacer comentario alguno, para que ellos mismos vayan haciendo propia la historia.
2.- Formular las preguntas obvias de: ¿te ha gustado el libro? ¿de qué parte es la de la que más te acuerdas?
3.- Volver a leer partes de la historia pero esta vez recreándose en determinados aspectos de la misma, dejando que los niños comenten la historia.
4.- Cuando los niños ya hayan interiorizado la historia, entonces en esta fase les hacemos preguntas dirigidas a aspectos educativos, como aprender a distinguir entre el plural o el singular, los verbos de acción, la partes del cuerpo, etc.

"Pinto Pinto Gorgorito" en inglés: ¡Eeny, meeny, miny, moe!

Hoy os presentamos un recurso facilísimo para aprender inglés jugando en el parque, recogiendo a los niños o descansado en casa.

Atreveros a cantar nuestro conocido “Pinto Pinto Gorgorito, dónde vas tu tan bonito, a la era verdadera, pin pon fuera”, con sus diferentes versiones según zona y cultura. Aquí os dejamos cómo en la cultura inglesa se echaba la suerte:
